SUMMARY:Community Seed Banks: Sharing Experiences from North and South
DESCRIPTION:From October the 30th to November the 3rd\, FAO’s Seventh Session of the Government Body of the International Treaty on Plant Genetic Resources for Food and Agricolture took place in Kigali\, Rwanda. \nThe International Treaty’s aims are the conservation and sustainable use of crop genetic resources and the fair and equitable sharing of the benefits arising of their use. On November 1st\, FNI organized on behalf of DIVERSIFOOD the side event “Community Seed Banks: Sharing Experiences from North and South”\, in collaboration with Bioversity International and Local Initiatives for Biodiversity\, Research and Development (LI-BIRD)\, Nepal. \nA presentation by Regine Andersen of FNI highlighted results from the DIVERSIFOOD survey on community seed banks in Europe and experience gathered through global international workshops about Community Seed Banks\, with the aim of sparking discussion about future developments and action needed. \nDownload the Invitation and Program of the event \nDownload the Report “Community Seed Banks: Sharing Experiences from North and South” \nRead the Article “FNI contributes to breakthrough in negotiations under the Plant Treaty” \n
